Why Abstinence is the Best Choice
for Preventing Teenage Pregnancy
I think abstinence is the best choice because
you stay pure, it's my religious belief, and you could become
pregnant. It's all about self-respect. How can you have any
self-respect if you go against all your moral standards? If
you don't respect your-self and your body then no one else
will. This is one choice in your life that you can control
the outcome, so make the right decision.
My first reason is that you stay pure. If a
girl doesn't stay pure when she is a teenager, then a future
boyfriend might not think you're the marrying type. If you
stay pure your future will be better. If you don't stay pure
then people may treat you differently. For example, if a boy
in high school knew that you had sex before, then he may want
to see what he could get from you. He could tell you anything
you want to hear and once he gets what he wants you will probably
never see him any more. If you stay pure people will treat
you with respect.
My second reason why abstinence is the best
choice is that this is my religious belief. In my religion,
having sex outside of marriage is a sin. Marriage is a very
important part of life in my church; it's one of the sacraments.
I think religion is one of the most important things in life.
The Bible says that you shouldn't have sex outside of marriage,
and if it's in the Bible then you should know enough not to
do it.
My last reason is that you could become pregnant.
If you got pregnant, then your entire life would change. You
probably would have to get a job right out of high school
because you wouldn't have enough money or time for college
and a baby. Your whole life would be about your baby and not
about you. It would not only affect you, but your family too.
Your parents would probably think they failed and your kids
might go and do the same thing. If you had a baby as a teen
it could ruin their future too. Traditionally the father works
while the mother stays home with the kids. If you got pregnant,
most likely the father isn't going to want to stick around
and help out. You will have to try to raise the baby alone
and work.
In conclusion, I think that abstinence is the
best choice that you could make when you're a teenager. You
stay pure, you wouldn't disobey any of your religious beliefs,
and you won't become pregnant and change your future and hurt
your child's, future either.
