Abstinence

My parents tell me that "The safest sex is not only abstinence, but sex after marriage!"

When you hear the word abstinence what comes to your mind? Some would say absolutely NO SEX until marriage, or that abstinence is the best type of birth control. Well, by definition abstinence is refraining from sexual intercourse. The real question is why should I consider abstinence until I am married?

The first thing that comes to mind is sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as AIDS, Herpes, Crabs, Syphilis and more. These diseases can affect you physically and mentally, and in some cases, for the rest of your life. AIDS is a real killer that can put you six feet under.

Another reason why you should consider abstinence and wait to have sex after marriage is because of the possibility of an unwanted pregnancy. Taking care of a baby is a big responsibility that will affect you for the rest of your life. It's a responsibility that usually falls on the female. The emotional involvement of having sex may leave one or both feeling guilty and used, especially the female. Your respect and reputation usually goes out the window when others find out that you are having sex. Don't believe the lies that little boys or girls tell you about sex, who have not even experienced life. They will say to you just try it one time or everybody is doing it and nothing bad will happen to you. They may even say you are weird. It only takes one time to catch a disease or get pregnant and your life is changed forever.

Then there are those who say dry sex and oral sex is not really sex because there is no sexual intercourse. Think about it. In oral sex you can still get all of the diseases you can with regular sex. The difference is that your throat becomes infected rather than the male or female sex organs. Dry sex will not make you sick or cause pregnancy but it is the gateway to oral sex or regular sex. Things happen and people lose control of their passions and reasoning while engaged in heavy petting and dry sex. Real abstinence includes abstaining from the gateways of oral sex and dry sex.

In light of all that I have said, your virginity is a precious gift that is easily lost or stolen. You must be very careful about who you let in the inner circle of your emotions if you want to save your virginity for the true love of your life, your husband or your wife.

A wise person once told me,

"Your sexuality is a precious gift
From this day forward
Treasure and protect it until you marry
Because you are worth waiting for!"

And, you are worth waiting for. THE CHOICE IS YOURS, so chose carefully who you want to be that special one to share your life and virginity with. Until that time abstinence is the best way to go in life.
Thank You
